World Travel Expo wraps 10th year with Iloilo stop

ILOILO CITY — Travel options ranging from hotels and resorts to tours, ticketing, insurance, and financial services were brought closer to Iloilo travelers during the 10th World Travel Expo (WTE), held Sept. 25-27 at SM City Iloilo.
The three-day expo featured about 30 exhibitors, giving visitors an opportunity to inquire directly about travel accommodations, destinations, tour packages, transportation, and related services.
Participating hotels and resorts included Astoria Hotels and Resorts, Belmont Hotel Iloilo, Citadines Amigo Iloilo, Damires Hills Farm and Spa Resort, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Boracay, Newport World Resorts, Seda Atria Iloilo, and Sheridan Hotels & Resorts.
Travel and ticketing firms Bords Travel and Tours, Chelsea Business Solutions Corp., and Travel Box Ticketing Services also took part.
The expo also featured services beyond traditional travel offerings, with EastWest, UnionBank, Student Link Philippines, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), and Standard Insurance Co. Inc. among the exhibitors.
TIEZA, an attached agency of the Department of Tourism, is tasked with developing tourism infrastructure and designating tourism enterprise zones.
Miles Caballero, managing director of the World Travel Expo, said the Iloilo stop was significant because of Western Visayas’ strong connection to tourism.
“We have been looking forward to coming to Western Visayas because we know how much this region has to offer,” Caballero said during the opening ceremony.
He added that the expo aimed to encourage travelers to discover destinations and experiences that could become part of their own journeys.
Themed “Xtraordinary Journeys, Xceptional Memories,” the Iloilo leg served as the final regional stop of the expo’s 10th year.
