Rookie cop posts bail in attempted rape case

A rookie police officer accused of attempted rape was temporarily released from detention after posting bail.

Iloilo City Police Station 7 chief Maj. Eduardo Siacon Jr. said a police patrolman identified by the alias Lee posted a PHP 25,000 surety bond on June 13.

Lee was released the same day.

The attempted rape case was filed against him on June 11, a day after he allegedly assaulted a pension house attendant.

Lee could also face an administrative case once the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division completes its investigation.

Police said Lee was arrested after he allegedly made sexual advances toward an employee of a pension house in the City Proper district of Iloilo City.

The 29-year-old suspect, a member of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6, is a native of Purok 4, Nangka, Balo-i, Lanao del Norte.

He had checked in to Room 18 on the third floor of the pension house.

The complainant assisted him to the room.

When they arrived, the complainant mopped the floor while Lee was inside.

Lee allegedly stepped out of the room, quickly returned, and locked the door.

While the woman was explaining the room rate, Lee allegedly grabbed and hugged her, then forced her to lie on the bed.

The complainant told Lee she would check on her child and return.

Instead, she called her live-in partner, and they went to Iloilo City Police Station 7 to report the incident.
