BACOLOD CITY – Two motorcycle riders died after they crashed into a mini truck parked at the roadside in Barangay Cartagena, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental late Tuesday night.
Police identified the fatality as Adrian Paulino, 21, while the name of his 15-year-old motorcycle-driver companion was withheld. Both were residents of the village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Fernando Somblingo Jr., city police chief, said the victims were allegedly speeding on their way to buy ice when they hit the rear of a truck around 11:35 p.m.
Somblingo said the victims might not have noticed the truck, as the area was not well-lit and it was raining at the time.
The victims were thrown under the truck and suffered severe injuries. They were also not wearing helmets or gear, according to Somblingo.
Both victims were declared dead at a hospital, he said.
