Two top wanted suspects arrested in Iloilo

Two of Iloilo province’s most wanted suspects were arrested in separate police operations on July 22.

Police identified the suspects only as alias Alex, 49, a resident of Barangay Bagsakan in Alimodian, Iloilo, and alias Nardo, 72, of Barangay Polot-an in Pototan, Iloilo.

Alex, a laborer, was arrested at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay THT&P, Maasin.

Members of the Maasin Municipal Police Station apprehended him under a warrant for frustrated murder.

The Regional Trial Court’s Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo, issued the arrest warrant.

The court set bail at PHP 200,000 for his temporary release.

Police said Alex was Maasin’s most wanted person.

Meanwhile, members of the Pototan Municipal Police Station arrested Nardo at 4:05 p.m.

He was apprehended under a bench warrant for statutory rape.

The Family Court’s Branch 6 in Dumangas, Iloilo, issued the warrant on July 22, 2026.

The court did not recommend bail for his temporary release.

Police said Nardo was also ranked as the most wanted person in his municipality.

Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, Western Visayas police chief, said the arrests were part of Police Regional Office 6’s intensified intelligence-driven operations.

“Ang magkahiwalay na pagkakaarestong ito ay patunay ng masigasig na pagtupad sa tungkulin, mahusay na intelligence gathering, at koordinasyon ng ating mga kapulisan. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang mga manhunt operation upang matiyak na ang mga indibidwal na may kinahaharap na kasong kriminal ay maiharap sa hukuman at mapanagot alinsunod sa batas,” Tuaño said.

He also urged the public to cooperate with authorities in removing wanted criminals from the streets.

Both suspects remain accused of the charges against them unless proven guilty in court.
