Tai Bundit leaves PH women’s national volleyball team coaching staff

Former Ateneo Lady Eagles and current Creamline Cool Smashers chief tactician Tai Bundit will no longer serve the Philippine women’s national volleyball team as an assistant coach.

Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) national team commission chairman Tony Boy Liao confirmed the news, adding that coach Bundit will have to leave the country to be with his family in Bangkok, Thailand.

“Yes, he gave me his resignation letter last August 15. Coach Tai cited family reasons because he won’t be able to concentrate to coach the national team with the rising cases in Thailand,” said Liao.

With the Asian Women’s Club Championship and the Asian Senior Women’s Championship already nearing, the women’s national squad will try to go to battle without coach Bundit.

Also, as the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is eyeing to open their second conference in October or November depending on the situation of the pandemic, it seems like coach Bundit will also not be able to coach Creamline in hopes of getting payback at Cherry Tiggo who dethroned them in the first season’s championship match.

“He won’t be able to coach Creamline as well for the possible second conference. He will wait for things to clear up in Thailand,” Liao added.

The PH women’s national team is currently under training in their bubble in Batangas but will transfer to Subic for another five weeks of intensive training.
