A native of Siquijor province was arrested in a police anti-drug operation at Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan early morning of June 21, 2022.
Edrick Maghari, 36, who hails from North Poblacion, Larena, Siquijor was nabbed at his current house in Sitio Cabanbanan, Barangay Manoc-Manoc, Boracay.
Members of Malay Municipal Police Station collared Maghari after he allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for 1,000 to an undercover agent.
Recovered from the suspect were two sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated price of P2,000.
Maghari is deemed a high-value target since he was arrested before for a drug-related offense.
He was collared in 2014 and was detained until his release from incarceration in 2018.
Police claimed that they have been monitoring him for the past two years already.
But in between tears and sobs, Maghari denied that the sachets of shabu were taken from his possession.
He asserted that he did not return to peddling drugs since he was released from jail.
He surmised that there might have been persons who got envious of him because of his work as a “commissioner.”
Maghari claimed he got a good number of visitors in the island and, in turn, received commission from the deal.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
