Roxas City suspect nabbed in gun-drug sting

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Police arrested a suspected street-level drug personality during an operation targeting an illegal firearm in Sitio Luyo, Barangay Culasi, Roxas City, on the evening of July 22.

Police identified the suspect only as alias Mark, 20, a resident of the area.

An undercover police officer allegedly bought an unlicensed firearm from the suspect during the operation.

Police recovered a .38-caliber revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition and PHP 2,500 in marked money from the suspect.

Operatives also seized a sachet containing about 4 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of PHP 27,000.

The suspect remains in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station while authorities prepare charges under Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In a separate operation, police arrested a businessman after allegedly finding two undocumented firearms during the implementation of a search warrant in Barangay Mongpong, Roxas City.

Police identified the suspect only as alias Jhon, 48, a resident of the area.

Authorities recovered a .45-caliber pistol and a .38-caliber revolver, along with a magazine and ammunition.

Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Lorencito Diaz of Branch 17 issued the search warrant dated July 21, 2026.

The suspect remains in the custody of the Roxas City Police Station.

Police said they would file two counts of violating Republic Act 10591 against him.
