Ramos stages showdown with Bobby Ray Parks in Japan

One of the brightest young stars in PH basketball will finally see action in the Japan B. League after clearing his two-week quarantine.

Dwight Ramos, one of Gilas Pilipinas’ young superstars, will debut in Japan today and will face another Filipino star in Bobby Ray Parks Jr., as Toyama and Nagoya are bound to meet in a double-header weekend treat for all hoops fans.

“I’m finally out of quarantine. I’m really excited to join the team, and practice with them, meet everybody for the first time, and just be part of Toyama again,” said Ramos.

Ramos would always be remembered not only by the Filipino basketball fans but also around the world when he led Gilas Pilipinas to sweeping back-to-back victories against Korea during the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers.

In his six games donning the white and blue under the tutelage of head coach Tab Baldwin, the 23-year-old sensation averaged 13.8 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

This time, Ramos will prove his worth to Toyama after the team acquired his services two months ago where he will face a tough task going against another co-star in Parks Jr.

Although plagued with injuries in his start with Nagoya, Parks Jr. is now slowly recovering and is looking to help the team rise in the standings and take a playoff seat this season.
