The Philippine Azkals finally entered the winning column of the AFF Suzuki Cup after handing Timor Leste a 7-0 beat down in their second scheduled match.
After a disappointing 1-2 loss against Singapore in their opening game, the Azkals were laser-focused to bounce back and keep their Suzuki Cup championship bid alive.
The Filipino booters buckled to work and asserted their mastery over Timor Leste that just couldn’t make defensive stops against the surging offense of the Azkals.
It was a collective effort for the team as seven Azkals players punched their names in the scoring tally of the prestigious tournament.
Goals from Martin Steuble, Amin Nazari, Angel Guirado, Patrick Reichelt, Jesper Nyholm, Bienvenido Marañon, and Kevin Ingreso sparked the Azkals’ onslaught in their second-best offensive performance on the international stage.
Eight years ago, the Azkals recorded their greatest shooting match as they crushed the Cambodians for a score of 8-0.
The win rewarded Azkals with three points in Group A and will still need to handle business in their next matches to push further in the tournament.
The Azkals will have a one-day rest in preparation for their highly-anticipated clash against Thailand tomorrow, December 14, 5:30 PM.
