Perez, Te rule Sunrise Sprint in Bohol

PANGLAO, Bohol — Christy Ann Perez imposed her pace from the opening swim, while Christopher Te survived a tense three-way battle as they captured the overall Sunrise Sprint titles in Sunday’s Sun Life 5150 Bohol Triathlon.
Perez delivered a wire-to-wire performance in the women’s 16–17 division, completing the 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike leg, and 5-kilometer run in 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 52 seconds.
She seized control in the water, widened the gap on the bike, and closed with a strong run to finish well ahead of Isabel Reyes, who clocked 1:44:12.
Te faced a far different challenge in the men’s 18–24 race, where John Michael Lalimos and Carron Cañas stayed within striking distance through the closing stages.
Te held his ground to win in 1:08:29, with Lalimos taking second in 1:10:06 and Cañas completing the podium in 1:12:59.
Their victories also secured the men’s and women’s overall Sunrise Sprint championships in the shorter-format event designed to introduce aspiring triathletes and recreational athletes to multisport competition.
The Sunrise Sprint formed part of the milestone 10th edition of the Sun Life 5150 Bohol, whose centerpiece Olympic-distance races were won by Ines Santiago and Mervin Santiago.
National team standouts Erika Burgos and Dayshaun Ramos added to the event’s marquee performances by claiming the Filipino Elite titles.
The host province also celebrated a commanding men’s relay victory as Team Bohol stopped the clock at 2:00:15.
Team Kuya J Multisport Team placed second in 2:05:58, while Team FerrumTri FLIQ1 finished third in 2:08:51.
Team Anselmos topped the women’s relay in 2:27:52, denying Team Kuya J Multisport Team, which settled for runner-up honors in 2:42:53.
Team BYD completed the women’s relay podium in 2:52:48.
Team FerrumTri FLIQ1 prevailed in the mixed relay with a winning time of 2:24:15.
Team TriBohol took second in 2:50:08, while Team TSG placed third in 2:55:59.
The Sunrise Sprint age-group races also produced a strong collection of performances across the field.
Giro Don Rafael Gito won the men’s 16–17 division in 1:09:51, beating Miguel Papas, who finished in 1:18:03.
Cecille Mole claimed the women’s 18–24 title in 1:35:27, edging Keirstein Ann Marie Tigullo, who posted 1:37:49, and Angela Tan, who finished in 1:38:37.
Justin Pabualan ruled the men’s 25–29 category in 1:21:45, with John Batingal second in 1:28:42 and Benjo Namoc third in 1:29:54.
Joanna Galeza captured the women’s 25–29 crown in 1:46:52, followed by Shea Restauro in 1:53:01 and Camille Flores in 2:00:42.
Philip Jurolan dominated the men’s 30–34 division in 1:15:58, finishing well clear of Anthony Luspo’s 2:07:46 and John Kim’s 2:08:57.
Patricia Ann Cruz-Bautista topped the women’s 30–34 class in 1:26:41, ahead of Nicole Adlawan in 1:41:47 and Alliza Borja in 1:47:58.
Alex Silverio won the men’s 35–39 title in 1:19:59, while Mary Grace Torres took the women’s 35–39 crown in 1:51:09.
Haroun Calbe prevailed in the men’s 40–44 division in 1:27:12, while Eugenie Neri topped the women’s 40–44 category in 1:41:35.
Indi Felisco captured the men’s 45–49 championship in 1:50:34, while Mae Corona won the women’s 45–49 title in 1:44:44.
Philip Tan Jr. ruled the men’s 50–54 division in 1:31:44, while Nonie Calimbayan took the women’s 50–54 crown in 1:59:55.
John Alcano won the men’s 55–59 category in 1:42:14, while Leoniza Gusilatar claimed the women’s 55–59 title in 1:54:33.
In the Sunrise Sprint relay races, Team East PH Tri 1 secured the men’s championship in 1:39:47.
Team Aceledar won the women’s relay in 1:36:16, while Team TriForReels captured the mixed relay title in 1:47:02.
