A pedicab driver did not survive a drowning incident late afternoon of June 19, 2022 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
The victim was identified as Joseph Paisan, 43, a resident of Barangag Yulo Drive, Arevalo.
Just like most drowning victims, Paisan was also drunk when he took a dip.
According to reports, the victim was binge drinking with his friends in front of Erning’s Manokan and Seafood Restaurant prior to the incident.
Paisan’s companions said that he excused himself and went to the nearby sea to swim around 5:20 p.m.
A few minutes later, his friend Roy Mascaya noticed that they could no longer see Paisan.
The victim’s friends immediately asked for assistance from the people in the area.
A search-and-rescue operation was immediately launched to locate Paisan.
The victim was subsequently found and rescuers tried to revive him.
Paisan was taken to The Medical City in Molo district but he didn’t pull through and was declared dead at 6:19 p.m.
