PBA Governor’s Cup set for December 8 kick-off

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) confirmed that they will begin their 2021 Governor’s Cup tournament this December 8 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

This will be the first return of the import-laced conference since the COVID-19 pandemic broke out last March.

However, PBA commissioner Willie Marcial’s ultimate plan of kicking off the conference with a number of fans won’t be possible for now and will still have to work things out with the different local government units (LGU).

Initially, Marcial and the rest of the PBA board agreed to open the last conference of 2021 with fans as an early Christmas treat following Metro Manila’s relaxed restrictions under Alert Level 2.

However, the delay caused by the late arrival of the imports playing in the Governor’s Cup led to some changes in their plans.

Despite the situation, commissioner Marcial is still optimistic that the PBA Governor’s Cup will eventually be able to accommodate the arrival of the fans in the arena.

The Smart-Araneta Coliseum, Filoil Flying V Centre, Mall of Asia Arena, and the Ynares Center are the four main venues being considered.
