There will be no Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Jr. rematch this year.
In an interview with BoxingScene, Manny Pacquiao’s camp confirmed that the long-awaited rematch against Floyd Mayweather Jr. will not happen on Sept. 25, 2026, and is being postponed indefinitely.
The decision came after CSI Sports, the events company that Mayweather had a deal with for the exclusive rights to promote the rematch, filed a federal lawsuit to recover USD 4.65 million.
CSI Sports claimed it paid the undefeated boxing superstar advance payments for promoting the Pacquiao rematch, as well as the Mike Tyson exhibition scheduled for April 25, 2026, that didn’t materialize.
Aside from the CSI Sports controversy, Mayweather was also accused by American social media influencer Logan Paul of unpaid fees from their exhibition bout in 2021.
In a YouTube video uploaded by the Iced Coffee Hour Podcast, Paul revealed that Mayweather still owes him USD 1.5 million from a portion of the bout’s sales.
Paul explained that Mayweather presold the event’s name and rights to a company in Dubai or the Middle East for USD 10 million in cash.
According to their contract, Paul was supposed to receive 15% of the presale sales, amounting to USD 1.5 million, which he never received.
“He still owes me a million and a half,” Paul said during the podcast.
“He presold the fight using my likeness to some company, I think Dubai or the Middle East, for USD 10 million cash. That company is actually suing him.”
Despite the shaky negotiations, Pacquiao’s camp is still optimistic that they can make the fight happen, with the estimated rematch schedule set for early 2027.
Pacquiao is looking to avenge his unanimous decision loss to Mayweather in 2015, when the undefeated American unified the WBA, WBO, WBC, and The Ring welterweight belts.
