A 36-year-old man was shot dead while watching a basketball game evening of February 4 at Miag-ao, Iloilo.
Police identified the victim as Roberto Labora Jr., a resident of Barangay Baybay Norte, the place where the shooting episode happened.
The gunman approached the victim and pumped two bullets into his chest.
The suspect immediately fled on board a motorcycle while the victim was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Major Marvin Buenavista, Miag-ao police chief, said they are still investigating the suspect and the motive in Labora’s killing.
Police records indicated that Labora was considered a drug personality in Miag-ao.
But at the height of Oplan Tokhang in 2016, he momentarily left the town.
He did not surrender but was seen in and out of the town.
Last year, Buenavista said he was arrested twice for illegal quarrying.
“Medyo pasaway man na siya sa ila barangay,” he said.
Labora just arrived four days from an undisclosed place when he was gunned down.
