Mactan-Cebu International Airport returns to Iloilo for its Sales Mission

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) brings back its face-to-face Sales Mission in Iloilo on August 16, 2023 at Park Inn Iloilo, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Together with its airline partners, MCIA promotes new flights and services that aim to enhance the connectivity between Cebu and Iloilo.

The Sales Mission in Iloilo is participated by MCIA’s airline partners namely Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, Philippines AirAsia, EVA Air, Emirates, Starlux, China Airlines, Turkish Airlines, and Scoot to update travel agents and tour operators of the new flights and services at MCIA.

“We are looking forward to bringing the Sales Mission in Iloilo face-to-face. Iloilo remains to be a key market for us as it remains to bring significant traffic growth during this recovery period. We are hopeful that bringing the Sales Mission back in person brings us opportunities to bring in growth in our domestic and international traffic,” said Aines Librodo, GMCAC Head for Airline Marketing and Tourism Development.

In July 2023, Iloilo recorded 150% recovery in its weekly flight frequency compared to 2022. Passenger traffic to and from Iloilo presented 202% passenger growth with around 159,000 passengers compared to 2022 traffic.

Now on its fourth run, MCIA started the Sales Mission in 2018 in key cities including Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Iloilo, and Tacloban to promote new flights and services as well as keep tourism stakeholders informed of the recent developments at MCIA. The Sales Mission also serves as a platform for airline partners to present their products and conduct networking sessions with tour operators and travel agents.

To date, MCIA has four (4) Philippine-based and 18 foreign carriers, with China Eastern Airlines resuming its daily flights to Shanghai starting July 14, 2023. MCIA is also connected to 27 domestic destinations and 12 international destinations.

MCIA also visited Bacolod on August 17 before going to Tacloban on August 23.

Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) is the second largest airport in the Philippines. It serves over 11 million foreign and local passengers yearly, making it the second busiest airline hub in the country.
