The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has launched a free online training course to help Filipino cash handlers identify genuine banknotes and coins and preserve the integrity of Philippine currency.
The BSP rolled out the BSP E-Learning Academy-Know Your Money course, or BELA-KYM, through a virtual event on May 5, 2026.
Developed by BSP currency experts, the self-paced and interactive course covers currency authentication, proper cash handling, relevant laws and regulations, and BSP policies and programs on currency integrity preservation.
The program is designed to widen nationwide access to updated and authoritative training on currency integrity, particularly for personnel who regularly handle cash.
Cash handlers from banks, non-bank financial institutions, and retail establishments are expected to take the course.
Participants who complete the training will receive BSP-issued certificates, a measure the central bank said would help strengthen professionalism in cash handling.
The launch comes as the BSP continues to promote proper treatment of Philippine money through its currency integrity programs.
The central bank’s Clean Note and Coin Policy provides for the removal of unfit currency from circulation to maintain the integrity of Philippine banknotes and coins.
The BSP also advises the public to keep banknotes and coins clean, avoid writing or marking on them, and refrain from crumpling, tearing, cutting, or puncturing banknotes.
BELA-KYM is available through BELA starting May 5, 2026, free of charge.
For registration inquiries, interested participants may email the BSP’s Currency Policy and Integrity Department at kym.currencyanalysis@bsp.gov.ph.
