KALIBO, Aklan — The Philippine Statistics Authority-Aklan is conducting the Household Survey on Domestic Visitors among selected households in the province to strengthen tourism industry data.
The HSDV gathers information on the travel characteristics of household members to estimate the volume of domestic and outbound visitors and identify travel patterns for tourism policies and development plans.
The survey also supports the Philippine Tourism Satellite Account, the Philippine national accounts, and the preparation and monitoring of the National Tourism Development Plan.
The HSDV is a nationwide household-based survey jointly conducted by the PSA and the Department of Tourism to collect data on domestic and outbound tourism among Filipino households.
The survey covers travel information of household members aged 15 and older, including main destinations and places visited, modes of transportation, package tour availment, and travel plans for the next 12 months.
The data cover trips undertaken from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2025.
PSA-Aklan hired six statistical researchers to collect data from 396 sampled households across 22 barangays in the province.
Two team supervisors were also commissioned to oversee the survey.
The national results of the 2022 HSDV showed that 39.1% of Filipinos aged 15 and older traveled within the country.
Female domestic travelers accounted for 52.9%, while male travelers made up 47.1%.
Pleasure or vacation was the main reason for domestic travel at 39.7%, followed by visiting friends or relatives at 32.9%, and medical or health reasons at 11.6%.
The National Capital Region was the most visited destination among domestic travelers for pleasure or vacation, with a 10.4% share.
Pangasinan followed with 6.4%, while Cebu ranked third with 6%.
