Knicks’ third-quarter surge secures Game 2 win

The New York Knicks orchestrated a massive third-quarter comeback to defeat the Indiana Pacers 130-121 in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals on May 9, 2024, taking a 2-0 lead in the NBA Playoffs.

Facing a double-digit deficit at halftime in front of their home crowd, the Knicks mounted a pivotal rally in the second half.

The trio of Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and Donte DiVincenzo ignited the team, scoring 36 points in the third quarter—their highest-scoring quarter of the series.

After trailing by 10 points, New York captured the momentum, surging to an eight-point lead entering the final quarter.

The Pacers responded vigorously in the last 12 minutes, capitalizing on transition opportunities and securing multiple second-chance points through aggressive rebounding.

Despite Indiana’s tenacious effort, the Knicks maintained control, executing flawlessly in the closing three minutes of the game.

Brunson, returning from a second-quarter exit for a knee check, delivered critical baskets that preserved New York’s lead during the crucial stretch.

A few poor shooting choices by the Pacers diminished their chances of a comeback, allowing the Knicks to dictate the game’s pace and secure the victory.

Brunson led the scoring for New York with 29 points on 11-of-18 shooting, along with five assists, three rebounds, and three steals.

OG Anunoby supported with 28 points—his best performance of the 2024 playoffs—adding four rebounds and three assists.

Josh Hart contributed a double-double with 19 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and a block, while DiVincenzo added 28 points, including six three-pointers.

The Pacers will seek their first win of the series on May 11, 2024, when they face the Knicks again in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals.
