Kaya FC-Iloilo’s superstar striker Jarvey Gayoso will embark on a new journey after Cambodian professional football club Phnom Penh Crown FC signed him to a deal confirmed on July 11, 2024.
In a social media post, Phnom Penh welcomed the addition of Gayoso when they uploaded his photos already training with the team.
Several days ago, Kaya FC surprisingly bid goodbye to Gayoso, but failed to provide the specific reason for his departure.
Phnom Penh then halted all speculations after they officially publicized Gayoso’s participation in their off-season training camp.
Before leaving the Iloilo-based football club, Gayoso steered Kaya FC to a back-to-back Philippines Football League (PFL) championship title after scoring the game-winning goal against the Davao Aguilas-UMAK FC.
Gayoso found the back of the net during a penalty situation when he was fouled by Davao’s defender Dodong Villareal on the left side of the pitch.
Calm and collected, the seasoned striker easily shot past Davao’s goalkeeper for the game’s lone goal which proved to be enough to bring them the championship.
Gayoso will leave the club as one of its best strikers ever, collecting a total of 43 goals in all of his stints with Kaya FC.
It was three years ago when Kaya FC decided to tap the services of Gayoso who came off an astonishing campaign with the Azkals Development Team (ADT).
Gayoso first turned heads in the PFL bubble tournament during the pandemic after carrying the ADT squad to several wins against the best professional players in the country.
Four years ago, Gayoso already had an international offer after former ADT head coach Scott Cooper confirmed that he was ready to reinforce Muangthong United, a Thai-based football team.
However, that offer failed to materialize due to undisclosed concerns, the reason why Gayoso had to stay in the PFL which also paved the way for his contract with Kaya FC.
