Kaya FC-Iloilo demolishes Army to maintain undefeated PFL record

The Kaya FC-Iloilo stamped their masterclass over the Philippine Army after crushing them, 6-0, in the ongoing Philippines Football League (PFL) on June 22, 2024, on their home pitch at the Campo Alcantara stadium in Pavia, Iloilo.

With another lopsided victory, Kaya FC just maintained its dominant record on their home pitch and are still yet to drop a game at the Campo Alcantara stadium.

Kaya FC is also undefeated in the whole tournament and improved their overall win-loss record to 10 wins, one draw, without a single loss.

On a gloomy afternoon in Pavia, the home bets quickly caught fire and pummeled the Army with their early aggressive attacks.

Despite several miscues and misses, Kaya FC finally found the back of the net in the 24^th minute, thanks to an impressive goal by Robert Lopez Mendy who cruised past John Kent Delariarte for the conversion.

Mendy’s goal then fired up the Iloilo-based squad as Jarvey Gayoso doubled Kaya FC’s cushion after firing another goal.

With only five minutes remaining in the first half, Mar Diano sent in a demoralizing conversion to help Kaya FC balloon their lead to 3-0 heading into the final 45 minutes of the game.

Despite any defensive pressure that the Army deployed, Kaya FC just proved to be the more experienced team as they found little holes to generate their offense.

Japan’s Shuto Komaki then opened the scoring for Kaya FC in the second half at the 60^th-minute mark that extended their cushion to four points.

An unfortunate sequence then haunted Army as Neil Dorimon committed an own goal in the 71^st minute for a 5-0 lead. Scoring the last freebie for Kaya FC was Gayoso, who completed his brace and was rewarded as the Best Player of the Game.

“It’s always good to play in front of our home fans, but we still have some games remaining. We can’t relax. On to the next one,” said Gayoso in an exclusive interview with the Daily Guardian.
