The University of San Agustin (USA) didn’t just flip a switch this December; they ignited a statement.
Under the banner of “Pasko ng Pag-asa at Pagkakaisa” (Christmas of Hope and Unity), the campus transformed into a beacon of resilience.
The celebration began long before the sun set, kicking off with the Panawagan at 3:00 PM and a Eucharistic Celebration at the University Chapel, grounding the festivities in gratitude.
By the time the crowd gathered at the USA Pavilion for the 5:30 PM program, the energy was palpable. This wasn’t just a visual spectacle; it was a showcase of Augustinian talent.
The USA Band, USA Little Theater, and Kawilihan-USA set the stage, reminding everyone that the university’s brilliance lies as much in its culture as in its academics.
The pivotal moment arrived with University President Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, OSA.
As he delivered the opening message and led the Opening of Lights, the campus facade was bathed in brilliance—a visual anchor for General Luna Street and a literal interpretation of KaSanAg.
But the night didn’t end with the switch.
The 6:00 PM Kasanag Show Choir Competition turned the evening into a sonic celebration, capped by a special performance from Rev. Fr. Jonas M. Mejares, OSA.
As fireworks lit up the Iloilo sky to close the event, the message was clear: In a world often navigating the dark, this community chooses to shine.
Christmas at San Agustin is all about the unity found in the gathering.
