Kagawad’s hubby nabbed in drug sting

BACOLOD City – A husband of a barangay official was arrested for the confiscation of 15 grams of suspected shabu worth P102,000 in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Regional Special Enforcement Team Bravo, arrested a 33-year-old businessman with aliases “Tors,” “Turo,” and “Turing.”
He is a top 2 target-listed drug personality in Hinigaran town and the husband of a barangay kagawad.
According to PDEA, the subject is the son of an alleged former leader of a dismantled drug group operating in Iloilo.
A PDEA agent, who requested anonymity, said that it took them several months to monitor the suspect.
He said the suspect had a previous murder case, but it was reportedly claimed by his father, leading to his release from jail.
The suspect also had a previous case for illegal possession of firearms in Estancia, Iloilo, but was able to post bail, while a similar case in Hinoba-an town was dismissed, the PDEA agent said.
The suspect was also previously charged for illegal possession of dangerous drugs during the service of an arrest warrant for murder in Hinoba-an town, but he applied for plea bargaining, the PDEA agent added.
The recent buy-bust operation was also in coordination with PDEA-Negros Occidental, and Hinigaran Municipal Police Station.
Meanwhile, in E.B. Magalona town, a 19-year-old boy was also apprehended in a drug bust in Barangay Sto. Niño, for the seizure of 10 grams of suspected shabu worth P68,000. He also allegedly yielded a .38 caliber firearm and three ammunition.
