After earning two straight splits in their previous outings, the Iloilo Kisela Knights are gunning for back-to-back wins in the upcoming 2021 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) San Miguel Corporation-Ayala Land Premier Association Cup playoffs.
Earning losses from the Pasig City King Pirates and the Manila Indios Bravos, the Kisela Knights are eager to bounce back and win both their games in day 11 of the PCAP playoffs.
The Kisela Knights will go up against the Sunrays Chess Center of Excellence, one of the newcomers in the league and the Negros Kingsmen on October 27.
Despite sitting at the bottom of the Southern division, the Sunrays are still one of the toughest teams to beat.
Meanwhile, the Kingsmen, one of Iloilo’s main rivals in the league, are hoping to redeem themselves after a sluggish start in the PCAP playoffs.
The Negros squad are currently seventh in the Southern division, five places behind the Kisela Knights who are at second place.
If Iloilo manages to win both their games against the Sunrays and the Kingsmen, then they will have the chance to take the no.1 spot in the Southern division if the Paralympics team will maintain their current 9-2 record.
