The Iloilo Kisela Knights continued their dominant playoff run in the ongoing Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) San Miguel Corporation-Ayala Land Premier Association Cup.
With a lopsided win against one of the invited participating clubs Pengcheng, 20-1, the Kisela Knights just extended their playoff winning streak to three after their previous wins over Davao and Bangkok.
It was one of the most one-sided victories in PCAP’s season-ending conference as the Kisela Knights were just all over Pengcheng from the get-go.
During the first seven playing boards, Iloilo managed to dominate in six of them and only dropped a single point to have an early emphatic lead of 6-1.
In the Rapid category, the Ilonggos showed no mercy and displayed a one-of-a-kind offensive display after sweeping Pengcheng 14-0.
GM Rogelio Antonio Jr., Karl Viktor Ochoa, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia, Cesar Mariano, Fritz Bryan Porras, NM John Michael Silvederio, and Mark Jossel Mariano all had stellar outings for the Kisela Knights and are seeking to repeat in the next playing schedule.
With the convincing win, the Kisela Knights are now at the no. 2 spot of the Southern Division with 78 points behind the PH Paralympic team.
