Twenty-five athletes from Iloilo province received financial assistance checks from Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr., totaling PHP 12,000 each, on Monday, April 29.
The P12,000 checks represent their allowance for a six-month period as part of the Iloilo Provincial Government’s sports educational assistance program, established under Provincial Ordinance 2019-199.
The program provides annual financial assistance of PHP 24,000 per athlete, including a PHP 2,000 monthly allowance, a PHP 2,000 uniform allowance, and a PHP 2,000 school supplies allowance.
The other recipients, totaling 49 in the program, were in Bacolod City for the 2024 West Visayas Regional Athletic Association (WVRAA) Meet.
The sports educational assistance program is overseen by the Iloilo Sports Development and Management Office (ISDMO), led by Dr. Janelyn Fundal.
