Hard work really pays off.
After a magical season in the FilBasket League as the Most Valuable Player (MVP), former Adamson Soaring Falcons big man Simon Camacho was rewarded with a PBA contract.
Averaging stellar numbers of 14.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals, and 3.6 blocks per game in his stint with Medical Depot, Camacho was called up by the Phoenix Super LPG for their campaign in the upcoming 2021 PBA Governor’s Cup.
Phoenix’s team manager Paolo Bugia announced their recent off-season move and was later confirmed by Spin.ph and the Tiebreaker Times.
Camacho was previously drafted in the PBA two years ago but unfortunately, the rookie wasn’t able to secure any contract from all the teams including the one that drafted him, the TNT Tropang Giga.
Despite initially failing in his PBA dream, Camacho was still unfazed and played for different leagues including the MPBL for the Bacolod Masters Sardines and FilBasket just this year.
“Siguro yung energy, hustle plays, defense, at rebounds, all the little things na puwede ko ma-contribute. Given the chance, I’ll do my best,” said Camacho.
The versatile big man will try to provide the missing spark the Phoenix team needs after failing to secure a playoffs spot during the last PBA PH Cup.
Camacho will be teaming up with sharp-shooter superstar Matthew Wright and veteran guards in RJ Jazul and RR Garcia.
