Fil-Am guard Remy Martin bolsters Strong Group for Jones Cup

Filipino-American guard Remy Martin is ready to don the blue-and-white threads of Strong Group Athletics-Pilipinas for its title defense at the 44th William Jones Cup.
The former Arizona State and Kansas star will make his highly anticipated Strong Group debut on Aug. 8, 2026, at the New Taipei City Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.
After beginning his professional hoops career with stints in Greece and Iceland, the explosive two-way guard is currently a free agent, opening the door for Strong Group to acquire Martin’s services in its quest for a William Jones Cup three-peat.
Martin departed Iceland’s Úrvalsdeild karla as a champion in 2024 after leading Keflavik to the title as the league’s scoring leader.
Martin first made waves in U.S. NCAA Division I basketball after helping propel the Kansas Jayhawks to a 72–69 victory over the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in the national championship game.
Kansas had to overcome a 16-point deficit behind Martin’s clutch offensive performance in the final 10 minutes of the thrilling championship game.
The Fil-Am guard’s 11 points in 10 minutes, including three key 3-pointers and an acrobatic layup, energized the crowd and helped Kansas keep pace with North Carolina’s high-octane scoring.
With the score tied at 65, Martin sized up his defender, took three dribbles, and surprised him by sidestepping toward the right elbow for the go-ahead 3-pointer, giving Kansas a 68–65 lead.
After that electric performance, Martin tried his luck in the 2022 NBA Draft but went undrafted.
He later earned a spot with the Cleveland Charge in the G League but was not re-signed and moved overseas.
Martin will now join a stacked Strong Group roster headlined by former NBA center Boban Marjanović, who joined the team on July 24, 2026.
In addition to Martin and Marjanović, the Philippines-based sports organization will also field Malick Diouf, Matthew Wright, William Navarro, brothers Dave and Shaun Ildefonso, Allen Liwag, and Jonathan Manalili.
