Kyle Sardon, a product of the prestigious St. Robert’s International College of Iloilo basketball program, earned another big break in his young hoops career after committing to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers on July 2, 2026.
The pride of Binalbagan, Negros Occidental, is fresh off a stellar campaign with the Gilas Pilipinas Under-18 national team, helping the squad bag the Southeast Asia Basketball Association Qualifiers crown in Thailand.
Sardon played the role of an off-the-bench scoring machine for Gilas Youth, picking up where the starters left off to help sustain the national team’s momentum in the closing minutes of every quarter.
The electrifying shooting guard averaged 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.4 assists across five games on the international stage, including an 11-point performance during Gilas’ lopsided 110-50 win over Singapore.
Sardon is already a household name in Iloilo City’s secondary boys’ basketball scene, leading St. Robert’s to back-to-back Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) championship titles.
Mentoring Sardon since his arrival in Iloilo City is the legendary John Guanco, the longtime head coach of St. Robert’s and the Palarong Pambansa squad.
It all started with his consistent two-way performance during the 2025 Palarong Pambansa, where he helped Western Visayas earn a return ticket to the championship stage.
Despite losing to the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA), Sardon turned heads with his 3-point shooting prowess, athleticism, and ability to defend all positions.
Sardon will join a stacked DLSU squad led by Jacob Cortez, Mason Amos, Luis Pablo, Earl Abadam, Vhoris Marasigan, EJ Gollena, and Doy Dungo.
He is the second player from St. Robert’s to take his talents to Manila, following in the footsteps of Ilonggo hoops star John Elijah Luke Rose, who is set to reinforce the Lyceum of the Philippines-Cavite Junior Pirates in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The Green Archers are aiming for a back-to-back UAAP championship run when Season 89 officially kicks off Sept. 12, 2026.
