The Choco Mucho Flying Titans schooled team Capital1 and swept them in straight sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-21, to take the solo lead honors in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on April 6, 2024, at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex.
Fresh off a dominant outing against the Galeries Towers during their last game, the finalists of the last conference picked up where they left off and immediately turned on the jets to take a commanding lead in the first set.
Sisi Rondina led the early rally for the Flying Titans as the high-flying outside hitter piled up the points for Choco Mucho that helped them balloon their lead to double digits.
Aside from Rondina’s offensive explosion, the duo of Maddie Madayag and Cherry Nunag joined hands to anchor Choco Mucho’s defense, neutralizing Capital1’s offensive chances with their on-point middle blocking performance.
Choco Mucho continued its dominance in the second set as their explosive offensive performance made it hard for Captal1 to gain any momentum in the game.
Rondina also buckled to work in the final possessions of the second period, scoring on back-to-back possessions to secure a 2-0 lead for the Flying Titans.
Despite trailing by 0-2 in the game, Capital1 began to regain their form in the third and final set as they arranged a nip-and-tuck affair with Choco Mucho.
However, Choco Mucho’s experience and court mastery once again rose to the occasion and denied Capital1 of any comeback hopes.
Rondina spearheaded Choco Mucho’s solid outing and led the team in scoring with 13 big points, eight excellent receptions, and five excellent digs.
Isa Molde backstopped Rondina and contributed nine points and six excellent receptions while Madayag delivered eight points and three blocks.
“Happy ako sa naging laro namin kasi halos lahat nagamit ngayon. Kung ano yung mga gusto naming gawin sa loob ng court, namamaximize namin,” said Choco Mucho mentor Dante Alinsunurin.
