The Choco Mucho women’s volleyball team ended their 2021 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championships campaign with a sixth-place finish.
After edging their co-PH volleyball team Rebisco spikers, the Kalei Mau led squad lost to Kazakhstan’s Zhetysu VC, 25-13, 25-11, 25-23.
Choco Mucho had the chance to notch one set in the third when their offense finally clicked but they committed costly mistakes that turned the momentum in favor of Zhetysu.
Ria Meneses and Dell Palomata backstopped Mau’s impressive game but can’t withstand the firepower of the spikers from Kazakhstan.
In their losing effort, Mau topped the stat sheet with 12 points off eight attacks and four blocks while the duo of Meneses and Palomata combined for 10 kills.
It was smooth sailing in the first two sets for the girls of Kazakhstan as they just steamrolled their way against the Filipinas.
Meanwhile, the Rebisco men’s volleyball team is out to redeem the women’s squad as they begin their tournament campaign today.
