Filipino prized gymnast Carlos Yulo will seek the 2021 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships supremacy today as he is set to defend his floor exercise title today, 3:10 PM.
After topping the said category during the elimination round with an impressive score of 15.166, Yulo is now locked and loaded in the grand final stage of the prestigious tournament.
“I did everything, like I practiced a lot before Olympics and I did what I really wanted,” said the Filipino gymnast.
Aside from his favorite category, Yulo also shocked the entire tournament when he also grabbed first-place honors in the parallel bars.
Yulo scored 15.566 in the parallel bars for the top finish while ending his vault category with a decent 14.808 points for the third place.
“For the P-bar, I was really shocked. I thought I couldn’t go to the finals, because I’m not really satisfied. From my point of view, it’s a little bit stiff, but I don’t know, I didn’t see my routine yet,” Yulo added.
It was a huge bounce back from Yulo who failed to qualify in the floor exercise of the recently concluded 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
This time, Yulo qualified in three categories: vault final, floor exercise, and the parallel bars, one of his greatest achievements in his young gymnastics career.
