As the golden glow of the Christmas tree illuminated The Atrium of NUSTAR Resort Cebu on the evening of October 25, 2025, guests were reminded not only of the season’s joy—but of Cebu’s enduring spirit.
Now on its fourth year, NUSTAR’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony has evolved into more than a festive tradition; it’s a celebration of hope, generosity, and the quiet strength of a community that continues to rise, no matter the trials it faces.
This year’s theme, Pearl of the Holiday Season, drew inspiration from the pearl—a symbol of resilience, transformation, and grace, forged through time and pressure.
“The pearl is born through time, pressure, and transformation,” said NUSTAR Chief Operating Officer Sean Knights during his keynote. “From something ordinary comes something radiant: a symbol of beauty, strength, and grace. In many ways, it mirrors our story as a community and as a resort.”
Knights’ message resonated deeply with those in attendance, especially after the recent earthquake that shook Cebu and disrupted lives and livelihoods.
“In recent weeks, we were reminded once more of that strength,” he said. “These moments remind us that resilience is built not by standing alone, but by standing together—with compassion, with cooperation, and with hope.”
True to this sentiment, the event’s highlight—the Installation of the Stars—brought together the values that guide the season: love, peace, joy, and hope.
This year, the honor of placing the symbolic stars went to children from The Children of Cebu Foundation, Inc. (TCCFI), NUSTAR’s chosen beneficiary.
Knights completed the tradition by placing the final ornament—the New Star—symbolizing the city’s shared optimism for the future.
But the celebration did not end with the tree lighting. Through its philanthropic arm, the Universal Cultural Foundation Inc. (UCFI), NUSTAR made a meaningful donation to TCCFI.
The funds will support facility repairs and new equipment for the Parian Drop-in Center, home to over 30 resident and transient children.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Children of Cebu Foundation Inc., the staff, and most of all our children at the Parian Drop-in Center, we welcome the collaboration with NUSTAR with joyful and grateful hearts,” said TCCFI President Mrs. Margot Osmeña.
“It is because of partners like [NUSTAR] that we have been blessed to receive and provide a home to over 6,000 children over the past 33 years,” she added.
For NUSTAR, generosity and celebration go hand in hand. Across the resort, its restaurants and lounges have transformed into hubs of holiday indulgence, with menus curated to delight every palate.
Xin Tian Di offers its Prosperity Trio—stir-fried lobster slippers with ginger and scallions, stir-fried abalone with trio mushrooms and asparagus, and patatim with steamed buns—alongside festive set menus available on December 24, 25, 31 and January 1.
Il Primo presents elegant five-course Christmas and New Year dinners with optional wine pairings, capped with an al fresco celebration to ring in the new year.
At Mott 32, guests can enjoy seasonal lunches and six-course menus paired with Prosecco or champagne, while Axis Entertainment & Sports Bar hosts themed nights complete with feast bundles and cocktails.
Fina and Huangdi offer seafood-forward and family-style six-course menus, respectively, ideal for gatherings both grand and intimate.
For buffet lovers, Fili Café runs daily festive spreads in December, with special highlights on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
Meanwhile, NUSTAR Lobby Lounge invites guests to unwind with Festive Delights Afternoon Tea and sparkling wine, while the Fili Lobby Lounge unveils The Christmas Treats Corner—a showcase of handcrafted chocolates and elegant hampers available from November 24 to December 31.
At The Mall | NUSTAR, the celebration continues beyond the dining rooms.
Guests can look forward to holiday music performances, family-friendly events, and the grand opening of new retail tenants including Lucky Lantern, Carmen’s Best Ice Cream, Bruno’s Barber, Kamiseta Skin Clinic, Ramen Nagi, and Playville by Kid’s Paradise.
For Knights and the NUSTAR team, the holiday celebration is about more than festive lights or luxurious meals—it’s about giving meaning to joy.
“Each star represents one of the values that guide us through the season and beyond,” he said. “May our tree stand as a beacon of hope: a reminder that the light we share with one another is what truly makes this season meaningful.”
In a world often overwhelmed by noise, the quiet radiance of a pearl reminds us of what endures—resilience, generosity, and the joy of coming together.
At NUSTAR Resort Cebu, the holiday season isn’t just lit—it shines.
