It was a cool and serene evening when philanthropist Dr. Ronald Lanz R. Latap—practicing gynecologic oncologist, benefactor of the St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary, and board trustee of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc.—arrived at the seminary halls to the warm glow of candles and the solemn hum of a thanksgiving Mass held in his honor at the seminary chapel.
What’s the buzz, dahlings? His beloved family and closest friends gathered for an intimate birthday dinner celebration at the seminary’s charming dining hall, which was spruced up to the nines with elegant décor fit for the occasion.
The celebrant’s family, close friends, and seminarians filled the space with joy and camaraderie, all treated to a lavish buffet spread curated by top-notch chefs Ding Montelibano and Miguel Cordova.
Dr. Lanz, beaming with gratitude and happiness, credited his journey and success to the unwavering love and support of his parents, Mr. Reynaldo and Ruby Latap; his siblings, Rey John, Rhoyd and Rainier; his children, Vince, Sam and Eli; and his second parents—Dr. Joselito and Faith Villaruz, Dr. Ma. Lilibeth Sia-Su, and Dr. Doris Benavides—who sent their heartfelt wishes via a wide LED video message.
As he blew out the candles on his cake, the crowd sang “Happy Birthday” in joyful harmony, their voices echoing throughout the space.
The evening was a delightful tapestry of laughter, stories, dancing, music, and heartfelt reminiscences.
As the night came to a close, Dr. Lanz looked around at the people he held dear, overwhelmed with emotion and gratitude.
“Thank you all for being here,” he said to the same cherished people he hopes to celebrate with every year. “This means everything to me.”
Cheers, Dr. Lanz—and more power!
