Since the virus outbreak, many are creating solutions to aid the public cope with the COVID-19 health crisis.
The Department of Science and Technology-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) focused on the mass production and distribution of medical face shields, in collaboration with partner organizations and material donors.
The Face Shield for the People in the Frontline project aims to augment the shortage in the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE).
In line with the face shield project, DOST-MIRDC is reaching out to people in the frontline. In Western Visayas, 10,000 pieces of medical face shields were provided for free in the hospitals, health facilities and, the local government units (LGUs) in partnership with DOST Region VI.
The medical face shields distribution started last June 11 through the efforts of the Provincial S&T Centers of DOST VI. To date, there are 9,000 pieces of face shields delivered, and the remaining 1,000 pieces are set to be supplied to other beneficiaries. (SSalazar/DOST VI)
