‘Yulo Triefecta’: Carlos Yulo ends Doha campaign with three podium finishes

Filipino gymnastics sensation Carlos Yulo pulled off one of his best campaigns on the international stage after taking home three medals during the recently concluded FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup Series held in Doha, Qatar, last March 4, 2023.

Coming off from a sub-par outing during the Cottbus, Germany leg of the Gymnastics World Series, Yulo was quick to bounce back and won the gold medal in the floor exercise, a silver in the parallel bars, and a bronze medal finish in the vault category.

The 23-year-old superstar immediately buckled to work in his signature event and scored an impressive 14.833 to claim the gold medal in the floor exercise.

Yulo hardly broke a sweat in his signature event and wrapped up his jaw-dropping routine with a half twist to front pike and a triple full side pass.

It was a tremendous improvement from his performance in Germany where he only scored 13.400 while finishing in 20^th place.

Yulo bested Minami Kazuki of Japan who tallied 14.200 for the silver medal and Great Britain’s Luke Whitehouse who settled for the bronze with 13.966.

Meanwhile, in the parallel bars, Yulo ended the category with a 14.933 performance behind Illia Kovtun of Ukraine.

It was a tightly-contested battle for the top podium finish as Yulo only fell 0.034 short of overtaking Kovtun for his second gold medal of the tourney.

Lastly, Yulo placed third in the vault event and registered 14.833 points behind Armenia’s Artur Davytan and Igor Radivilov of Ukraine.
