Workshop on key challenges in modern mgmt to be held by mgmt practitioners, industry stakeholders, and educators

A national Management Educators Workshop (MEW) at West Visayas State University (WVSU) on July 27 and 28, 2023 will be gathering management practitioners, industry stakeholders, and educators to collaborate on several key issues for modern management.

The MEW which is a blended type of workshop (face-to-face and online) is co-presented by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and Asian Institute of Management (AIM) of the Philippines in cooperation with WVSU with the workshop venue at the WVSU College of Medicine Auditorium and classrooms.

To welcome the participants are WVSU President Joselito Villaruz, MAP President Benedicta Du-Baladad, and AIM President Jikyeong Kan represented by Dr. Christopher Monterola.

On the other hand, Dr. Federico Macaranas, chair of the MAP Education Committee and adjunct faculty of AIM, will be orienting the participants on the statement of objectives and expected outputs of the two-day workshop.

The MEW has three general objectives. The first one is to “Bring together management practitioners and teachers so that the latter would know what the employers want of future managers.”

The second is to “Help Philippine schools of management improve their school curricula, course syllabi and content, and teaching practices as well as teach their students how to respond to the fast-changing demands of customers, clients, citizens, and stakeholders”.

The last one is to address the following key challenges for modern management: Innovative techniques for teaching management, greater practitioner orientation, and involving management practitioners in education.

The Day 1 first session will discuss the objectives and expected outputs of MEW 2023, leadership, and Dynamic SWOT Framework while the MAP CEOs will give presentations and be in a panel discussion for Q&A. The third session will be about ChatGPT and AI in education. The Day 2 session in the morning and afternoon will be about 21^st Century Agile Leadership.
