BACOLOD CITY — Police are preparing a criminal complaint against a 20-year-old woman after a fetus was found inside a comfort room at the Victorias City Coliseum in Negros Occidental late Friday night.
Capt. Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson for the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), said a complaint involving the alleged improper disposal of human remains may be filed against the woman.
Catalogo said that, based on the woman’s account, she did not know she was pregnant.
The woman initially complained of stomach pain to rescuers at the venue and said she discovered she was pregnant only after going to the comfort room, where the fetus reportedly came out.
“She had a bleeding and probably felt nervous about what happened,” Catalogo said.
Police were able to identify and trace the woman because she was among the beneficiaries of a government program held at the venue that day.
She is currently under the care of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
Police have not disclosed the gestational age of the fetus or other medical findings surrounding the incident.
