A woman facing multiple estafa cases was arrested on the evening of June 5 in Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Alias Bing, 57, was apprehended at her residence in Barangay Ayaman, Cabatuan, Iloilo.
Members of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station, along with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office–Provincial Special Operations Group (IPPO-PSOG), served the arrest warrant.
The suspect was wanted for 24 counts of estafa.
Judge Gemalyn Faunillo-Tarol of the Regional Trial Court Branch 76 in Janiuay, Iloilo issued the warrant.
Bail was set at PHP666,000 for her temporary liberty.
Captain Aileen Lacrite, Cabatuan police chief, said the suspect is the eighth most wanted person in Iloilo province and third in Cabatuan town.
Lacrite said the charges were previously dismissed after the complainant agreed to a settlement with the suspect.
However, the suspect allegedly failed to fulfill the terms of the agreement.
“She failed to pay, that’s why the complainant revived the charges,” Lacrite said.
Bing claimed she used the money to fund her children’s education.
Lacrite said the suspect has posted about PHP200,000 in surety bond for her provisional release.
Bing’s son, a seafarer, reportedly helped pay for the bond.
