Who can stop the Las Vegas Aces?
A three-week undefeated winning streak is maintained.
On Aug. 26, 2025, the Las Vegas Aces grabbed their 11th straight win in the ongoing Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) regular season after repelling the tough challenge from the Chicago Sky, 79-74.
With the nail-biting win, the Becky Hammon-mentored squad already formalized its WNBA playoff qualification, with four games still left before the postseason kicks off.
Chicago went so close to handing Las Vegas its first defeat in nearly a month after erasing a 14-point lead in the most crucial period in the second half.
After a cold outing in the paint haunted by missed layups and high-low bankers, Chicago stepped on the gas pedal midway through the third and amped up its two-way intensity.
From keeping A’ja Wilson out of her comfort zone on the left elbow to limiting Jackie Young’s offensive production, the Sky already had the right recipe for a disaster.
However, the multi-champion squad hungry to extend the active winning streak record of the 2025 season went berserk in the final three minutes of the ball game.
Down by a point, 73-74, with only 2:37 left, Chelsea Gray buried a clutch three-pointer to help Las Vegas return to the driver’s seat, 76-74.
After Chicago’s missed offensive opportunity on the other end, Wilson sank a cold-blooded layup to push the Aces’ cushion to four points, 78-74.
From that point, Chicago failed to recover and went ice cold from the field, failing to buy a bucket since Angel Reese’s deuce in the 2:37 mark.
The whole first half was controlled by Las Vegas as Wilson’s post prowess torched Chicago for an early double-digit lead, backstopped by Young’s long bombs that protected their advantage in the first half.
Chicago’s defensive switch paid off dividends in the second half, but Las Vegas’ tremendous execution down the stretch dashed the Sky’s hopes of becoming the team to snap the Aces’ winning streak.
Young led Las Vegas with an all-around outing of 22 points, seven assists, three rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, while Wilson logged a near double-double of 18 markers, nine boards, and two rejections.
Las Vegas spoiled Chicago’s Ariel Atkins’ insane shooting night, who exploded for 30 points built from an efficient 10/18 shooting from the field alongside seven assists and four rebounds.
