WIT & JBLFMU remain undefeated in JB ABL Season III ‘School Wars’

The Western Institute of Technology (WIT) Tangerine and the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) Dolphins continued to impress in the alumni (college) category and are yet to drop a single game in the ongoing JB Amateur Basketball League (JB ABL) Season III “School Wars”.

Both prestigious schools notched their second-straight victory last scheduled match day and are now the league leaders in their category.

The WIT Tangerine put up another dominant performance and blasted the University of San Agustin Golden Eagles, 81-63, while the JBLFMU Dolphins asserted their dominance over the Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions, 75-51.

After surviving the Iloilo Doctor’s College (IDC) Medics during their first game, the Tangerine squad made sure there will be no meltdown in the final quarter.

With widely-renowned scoring machine small forward Cris Loyola debuting for WIT against the Golden Eagles, the Tangerine offense looked crisper than ever.

Loyola’s addition made it hard for San Agustin to contain them offensively with the likes of power guard Alvin Benecio, big man Jhepoy Balleza, and the Doliguez brothers also chipping in major contributions during the convincing win.

The sweet-shooting swingman immediately made an impact and earned player of the game honors after dropping 19 big points.

Meanwhile, in the second scheduled clash in the college alumni category, the JBLFMU Dolphins crushed the CPU Golden Lions.

It was a wire-to-wire victory for the former PRISAA kings as JBLFMU never allowed the Golden Lions to get going on the offensive end.

The Dolphins’ all-around attack was too much to handle for CPU despite re-shuffling their playing unit into a defensive-oriented lineup.

The trio of Janjan Robejes, Nico Capote, and John Paul Sorongon shot the lights out for the Dolphins and steered their squad to a 2-0 start in the JB ABL tourney.

In the other scheduled games in the college alumni category, the IDC Medics outdueled the University of Iloilo (UI) Wildcats, 78-69.

For the high school alumni category, the Saint Joseph School of Iloilo Templars, Saint Vincent Ferrer Seminary, Tiong San Blue Lions, and the Hua Siong College of Iloilo notched respective victories.
