Sacramento Kings’ Russell Westbrook inked his name in the history books after surpassing Jason Kidd for the most rebounds by any guard in the NBA on Nov. 6, 2025.
During Sacramento’s grueling 121-116 victory over the Golden State Warriors, Westbrook only needed eight rebounds to achieve the feat, but exerted more effort to end up with an impressive stat line of 23 points, 16 boards, and 10 assists.
With another triple-double, Westbrook brought his total to 8,734 career rebounds, eclipsing Kidd’s 8,725 to become the NBA’s all-time rebounding leader at the guard position.
“Oh. Honestly, I didn’t even know it was tonight,” Westbrook said.
“I need to get that game ball. Can somebody get it for me? I need that. Humbly speaking, I’m the best rebounding guard ever. When the ball comes across the rim, I’m gonna get it.”
In a must-win game to avoid a disappointing start to the NBA season, Westbrook flashed his vintage mode and carried the Kings to a come-from-behind win against the Warriors.
Playing the most minutes due to the absence of Zach LaVine and Domantas Sabonis, Westbrook carried the Kings with his most efficient offensive display in eight games, shooting 9-of-13 from the field, including three treys.
Westbrook orchestrated Sacramento’s offense and spearheaded their comeback effort in the pivotal third quarter, where they outscored Golden State 35-23.
The NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles was a one-man wrecking machine, bulldozing every Golden State guard who tried to contain him in each fast-break opportunity.
Two weeks since signing a fresh deal with Sacramento, Westbrook has proved his worth and has now scored in double digits in six consecutive games.
Moreover, this is Westbrook’s second game of the season where he has recorded 10 rebounds or more, surpassing his performance against the Milwaukee Bucks.
From almost not making it back into the NBA after several franchises passed on him during the offseason, Westbrook is looking to make the most out of his stint in Sacramento—the team that offered him a new home after his campaign with the Denver Nuggets ended.
