W. Visayas police drug raids net 22 arrests, P2.7M drugs seized

In a span of 24 hours, various units of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 launched 20 separate anti-illegal drug operations.

The crackdown, which began at 6 a.m. on June 5 and ended early the following morning, resulted in the arrest of 22 persons and the confiscation of around 397 grams of suspected shabu valued at P2.7 million.

Four of those arrested were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs), while 18 were categorized as street-level pushers.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOcPPO) arrested six persons, while the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) nabbed four.

The Capiz PPO and Bacolod City Police Office each arrested three suspects, the Antique PPO two, and the Guimaras PPO, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 each made one arrest.

While the Negros Occidental PPO made the most arrests, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office recorded the largest confiscation, seizing 132 grams of suspected shabu worth P897,000 in three operations.

The two arrests by the Antique PPO yielded 82 grams worth P557,000. IPPO’s arrest of individuals known as Aldrin and Trixie resulted in the largest single drug confiscation of 110 grams of suspected shabu worth P748,000.

Brigadier General Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police chief, commended the operatives and their commanders for their sustained and focused efforts in the campaign.

He encouraged them to maintain an intensified campaign against illegal drugs and warned drug peddlers that they would be apprehended soon.

“To the members of the community, keep on watching your locality. Your information is a big help in our campaign and in our collective goal of clearing every street from the menace of illegal drugs,” Wanky said.
