Victorias City hosts PVL On Tour finale

VICTORIAS CITY, Negros Occidental — Victorias City will host the final stop of the 2026 Premier Volleyball League On Tour on Aug. 22, bringing a major professional sporting event to the city for the first time in 15 years.

The hosting agreement was formalized Wednesday through a memorandum of agreement signed by Victorias City Mayor JunB Bantug and GRID Sports Athletic President Bea Tan.

The matches will be held at the Victorias City Coliseum, which can accommodate 7,000 fans.

The city last hosted games from a major professional league in October 2011, when the Philippine Basketball Association visited Victorias.

Capital1 will face Farm Fresh in the opening match at 4 p.m.

Galeries will battle Creamline in the second match at 6:30 p.m.

The PVL On Tour is a preseason competition that brings the country’s professional volleyball clubs to communities outside their usual venues. The league’s 12 participating teams are divided into two pools.

“This is a full-circle moment for me. I spent some of my early years in Victorias, and since 2015, a big part of my work has been bringing volleyball closer to communities around the country. Now we get to bring the PVL here for the first time and even better, making Victorias the final stop of the 2026 tour,” said Tan.

“Sports bring people together, create opportunities for local businesses and tourism, and inspire the next generation youth. We want to put Victorias City on the map through volleyball and maybe finally host an international match here for our national team,” she added.

Victorias officials view the hosting as part of a broader effort to use major sporting events to promote sports tourism.

The city also expects the event to stimulate local economic activity, deepen community engagement and strengthen Victorias’ position as an emerging sports destination in Negros Occidental.

“We’re very happy to host the PVL in Victorias and bring this to our people. We believe events like this can boost sports tourism locally as we move toward making Victorias a sports tourism capital of the province,” said Bantug.
