PBA: Converge snaps 4-game skid in win over Terrafirma

The Converge FiberXers finally ended their four-game losing streak after dominating the Terrafirma Dyip, 120-103, in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center on Aug. 11, 2026.

After almost two weeks of misery, Converge successfully returned to its winning ways, courtesy of a balanced two-way effort led by new import Cameron Clark, who officially replaced Jamaal Franklin.

Clark stabilized Converge’s interior defense, limiting the Dyip to a combined 48 points in the first two quarters, one of their lowest first-half offensive outputs in the entire tournament.

Backstopping Clark during Converge’s massive 70-48 first-half outburst were Justin Arana, Calvin Abueva and Juan Gomez de Liaño, who took turns scoring in the final five minutes of the second quarter.

Just when the FiberXers thought a walk in the park was in store for the second half, Terrafirma played spoiler with a counterattack that turned the contest into a 10-point game.

Import Justin Strings gave his all in the third quarter, imposing his will underneath and forcing the Converge defense to collapse inside the paint.

However, Clark came to the rescue for the FiberXers as the veteran reinforcement answered with a demoralizing 3-pointer and back-to-back layups that spearheaded a much-needed 10-0 Converge run.

Unfortunately for Terrafirma, the team went cold from the field and failed to cut Converge’s advantage to single digits before the final buzzer sounded.

Another underrated aspect of the FiberXers’ fourth-quarter execution was their 1-2-2 zone defense, which limited Strings’ production in the paint.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Converge decided to contain Strings in the paint after he sparked Terrafirma’s comeback attempt at the end of the third frame.

With Converge’s 1-2-2 defensive adjustment, Terrafirma failed to consistently execute its high-low plays in the paint, as its entry passes to both blocks were repeatedly disrupted by Converge’s wingmen.

Clark led the way for the FiberXers, tallying 22 points and five rebounds in his debut, while the trio of Arana, Abueva and de Liaño chipped in 20, 17 and 13 points, respectively.

On the other hand, Strings led all scorers with 28 markers, but his double-digit offensive effort wasn’t enough to steer the Dyip to back-to-back PBA wins.

Converge will look to sustain its momentum on Aug. 14, 2026, against the league’s top team, the NLEX Road Warriors, while Terrafirma will seek to rebound on Oct. 7, 2026, against the TNT Tropang 5G.
