After wearing blue for four years in the UAAP women’s volleyball, Vanie Gandler will this time suit up for a red jersey in the upcoming Premier Volleyball League (PVL) conference.
The Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) standout confirmed that she decided to turn professional last May 18, 2023, and will reinforce the Cignal HD Spikers.
Cignal already announced the major development after posting Gandler’s image on their social media accounts, welcoming her to their talented lineup that will seek to win a championship title this year.
Gandler is expected to bring her championship DNA from Ateneo and will also be a huge spark on the offensive end.
During her final year with the Blue Eagles, Gandler tallied an impressive stat line of 154 total points, 12 service aces, and eight blocks.
Gandler immediately won a UAAP championship title way back in Season 81 and helped lead the Blue Eagles to successive Final Four trips.
However, Gandler and superstar Faith Nisperos failed to take Ateneo to the semifinals this Season 85 after NU, DLSU, UST, and Adamson got ahead of them in the standings.
Mentoring Gandler in the HD Spikers is former national team staple and star outside hitter Rachel Anne Daquis and veteran middle blocker Rian Meneses.
Also present in the Cignal current roster are Toni Basas, Jerrili Malabanan, Angelica Cayuna, Glaudine Troncoso, and Geneveve Casugod.
Gandler will also have the luxury to be coached by one of the greatest male tacticians in the sport, head coach Shaq Delos Santos.
