Two women nabbed with PHP 1.49M shabu in Roxas

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — Two female high-value individuals were arrested Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23, in a drug buy-bust operation in Sitio Kabulakan, Barangay Cogon, Roxas City.

Joint personnel from the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Regional Intelligence Division 6, Philippine Drug Enforcement Group, Special Operations Unit 6 and Roxas City Police Station arrested alias “Madame L,” 28, of Barangay San Roque, Dumalag, Capiz, the subject of the operation, and alias “Lezil,” 50, of Barangay Dumolog, Roxas City.

Police said an undercover officer bought a sachet of suspected shabu from the subject around 5:50 p.m. using PHP 14,000 in buy-bust money.

Operatives also recovered from the suspects 13 sachets contained in three knot-tied plastic bags believed to contain illegal drugs weighing about 220 grams, with a standard drug price of PHP 1,496,000.

Police also seized three improvised tooter pipes, two cellphones, PHP 550 in alleged proceeds, a handbag, a disposable lighter, a knife, a plastic scooper, aluminum foil and other drug paraphernalia.

The two suspects are under the custody of the Roxas City Police Station while charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were set to be filed Thursday, Sept. 24, before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

Meanwhile, Dumolog Punong Barangay Stephen Medina said in a media interview Thursday morning that alias Lezil was a longtime former barangay health worker.

Medina said she was already serving as a barangay health worker when he assumed office as punong barangay of Dumolog.

He said the barangay council eventually terminated her because of frequent absences while attending to the needs of her husband, who had suffered a stroke.

Medina also said Lezil was a drug surrenderee who graduated from the Community-Based Rehabilitation Program.
