BACOLOD CITY — Police are investigating two shooting incidents that killed two men in Bacolod City and Toboso, Negros Occidental, on Wednesday.
In Bacolod, a man who was walking along the roadside in Barangay Banago was gunned down by two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects.
Police Capt. Rosalino Pugoy, head of Police Station 3, said the suspects passed by the victim, identified only as Victor, and suddenly shot him from behind.
The victim died on the spot.
Police have secured a copy of closed-circuit television footage showing the faces of the perpetrators.
Pugoy said they are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspects by posting their images on social media.
Pugoy said the victim had previous complaints for theft.
He added that the victim would usually collect garbage, but when he saw an opportunity, he would allegedly steal unattended items.
Pugoy also said the victim was an alleged drug user.
He said police are not discounting the possibility that the killing could be drug-related.
Meanwhile, a 37-year-old man was also shot dead in Barangay General Luna, Toboso, by four unidentified suspects.
An investigation showed that the victim had just come home from the public market when the suspects waylaid him outside his house and shot him several times, hitting him in the head.
The suspects then reportedly entered the victim’s house and allegedly took the cellphones of his wife and daughter before fleeing.
The incident was witnessed by the victim’s minor daughter and was reported to police by the victim’s brother.
Police are continuing their investigation into both shooting incidents.
