Two high-powered firearms, ammos recovered in Binalbagan clash

BACOLOD City – Troopers of the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion (IB) recovered two high-powered firearms and assorted ammunition after engaging in a clash with suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) at Sitio Capaklan, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental yesterday.
The recoveries included an M60 general-purpose machine gun, a .30-caliber Bolt action sniper rifle, a rifle grenade, three backpacks, medical paraphernalia, subversive documents, and other personal belongings.
Based on the report of the 62nd IB, military troopers launched an operation against the NPA in response to information from the civilians when they encountered at least 10 alleged members of the composite elements of the Regional Striking Force (RSF) and remnants of Central Negros 1 (CN1), both under Komiteng Rehiyon-Negros, Cebu, Bohol, and Siquijor (KR-NCBS).
No casualties were reported in the firefight which lasted for about five minutes, according to the Army.
