Truck driver wounded in Roxas City bolo attack

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A truck driver was wounded after a delivery rider allegedly attacked him with a bolo Thursday morning, July 16, at a courier company’s warehouse on Calipayan Street in Barangay Punta Tabuc, Roxas City.
Police identified the victim only as Anton, 27, a resident of Barangay Poblacion in Sapian, Capiz.
The suspect was identified only as Mel, a resident of Barangay Linateran in Panay, Capiz.
A company supervisor told investigators that a heated argument broke out between the two men over the delivery of a parcel.
The supervisor said the victim took a knife from his truck to defend himself.
The suspect initially walked away after the argument.
Police said the suspect then went to the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center, bought a bolo and returned to the warehouse.
The victim tried to flee after seeing the suspect carrying the bolo.
The suspect caught up with him and allegedly struck him on the left side of his back and both legs.
The victim was taken to Capiz Emmanuel Hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled on his motorcycle after the attack.
He voluntarily surrendered to the Roxas City police several hours later.
Police said the dispute over the parcel delivery was the suspected motive.
The suspect remained in police custody for proper disposition.
