BACOLOD City – Police have yet to establish the motive behind the murder of a truck driver in Barangay Mambulac, Silay City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
The victim was identified as Leopoldo Agudon, 52, of Barangay 1.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Robert Petate, city police chief, said Agudon was about to park his truck when an unidentified man approached and shot him.
Petate said successive gunshots were heard in the area. The gunman then fled on board his motorcycle.
Agudon was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered from the scene five ammunition shells.
Petate said they have no lead yet on the identity of the perpetrator, adding that they will also have to check the background of the victim.
Aside from being a truck driver, Petate said that Agudon was also a fruit vendor.
